Hybrid Creatures
What makes a "hybrid creature?": In my classification, a "Hybrid Creature" possesses physical elements of more than one creature- say, the Minotaur, which is part man, part bull. As a counterexample, a Hydra isn't a Hybrid Creature because it is just a dragon, though it does have multiple heads.
Griffins are creatures with characteristics of multiple animals: its body, back legs, and tail are those of a lion; its head and wings are those of an eagle, and its front feet have talons like an eagle.
Minotaur is a part-man, part-bull creature from Greek mythology. He guards the center of the maze-like Labyrinth. However, he was eventually killed by the hero Theseus. |
The Chimera is a monstrous, fire-breathing creature from Greek mythology. It is usually depicted as a lion, with the head of a goat rising from its back, and a tail that ends in a snake's head. The Chimera is a sibling of the monster Cerberus.
